Project Overview

Quizzo is a content learning platform that offers effective ways to learn new content through quizzes and flashcards. The typical users are college students or early career professionals. Our aim is to provide a solution for the learners as well as instructors to deliver content and feedback in a hassel-free way.

TimeLine: June 2021 - August 2021

Role: User Research, User Design (Wireframing and Prototyping), User Interface Design and Iterations

The problem I focused on

Current Content learning platforms do not provide different solutions to make online education viable for all users. With the world switching to a work-from-home and learn-from-home approach, users are frustrated with the traditional approaches to content learning.

Quizzo attempts to provide users with newer ways to learn content through multiple channels and an easy navigation pathway.

User Research and Pain Points

My user research process began by conducting a short survey asking participants about their experience using quizzing platform. The participants included 17-35 year old students and early career professionals. To further understand user pain points and what the current platforms provide, I conducted a competitive audit with 3 direct and indirect competitors each.

Based on the problem statement, here is a user persona I created.

Kia Adams is a 21 year old Research Assistant who wants a one-stop solution to learn new content as a University student and create surveys for her research as a part-time assistant to her biology Professor in order to perform well at school as well as her internship.

Based on the user survey, here is a summary of the pain points users face with their current content learning platforms.

  • Accessibility in design and navigation

  • Feedback and Active communication

  • Time and Miscue

To complement the website, I also designed a mobile application. All the designs have been created with AdobeXD

Redefining the Designs

A second round of the usability studies helped refine the final designs and provided these insights:

  • Users wanted the mobile design to have increased spacing between buttons and a high-contrast to highlight key information.

  • Users want a way to return to the home page after the feedback page

  • Users did not figure out how to use the front and back options to switch between the questions on the mobile app

What will I do differently the next time

This was my first project designing a responsive website with AdobeXd. It helped me learn a new design software along the benefits and complications that come with designing on a larger frame. A peer reviewed my design and mentioned “The design looked clean, elegant and easy-to-use

For my next project, I would:

  • The scope of my prompt: This project was a part of the UX Design Certification by Google and the prompt was generated automatically. I envisioned my solution to change the way users learn and consume content. However, due to a large scope and limited time, I could only focus on the ‘Quizzing’ section of the solution. For my next project, I would like to focus on a specific problem.

  • Visually Appealing and Accessible Designs: I would like to learn more about visual designing and typography and implement it in my work. I want to create a solution that is appealing as well as accessible to the next billion users.
